so I need... crazy cat lady, firefighter, I love the smell of saronite in the morning, and possibly stoking the furnace
also I am highly envious of you all
but on the other hand I got some pictures
last few yards climb up to lake of glass elevation 10820

then we also went to chasm lake, elevation 11,760ft above sea level; this ones way above the timber line

Here's another of chasm lake, actually showing the lake, and mewith an awkward face

Finally heres a shot from the summit of chasm lake looking back down on some of the trail -- it really doesn't do the view justice, you can barely make out the climbers base camp in the top right of the photo, and the rest of the trail peaks over the mountain on the left side of the photo

heres another picture I liked -- I washiking with my brother and his wife, and whn we got near the summit of lake of glass we weren't exactly sure what to do, the path which was once clearly marked was running straight into a waterfall and disappearing, and we were skeptical, being amatuers in this field, of climbing up a waterfall. From a distance when we saw the sign (which is pointing right into a cliff wall) my sister in law said in 100% sincerity - "That's not a sign thats a cross!, Thats where someone died!" -- thinking it was a gravemarker like you would see a long the ride from dui deaths.

All in all I had a decent time, though I think by thursday I was growing more and more stressed being around family, a great deal of my relatives are extremely pompous intellectuals, from the Professer of literature, the Ph.D in Spanish language, the 3 lawyers, the world travelers who insist that I absolutly must come to barcelona with them, the artist who is vegetarian (not vegan thank god), and my own psuedo intellectual mother who attempts to be hip, it slowly drains the will from me and grinds away at my sanity. Im in lincoln until tuesday when I fly back - not to get home till like 9-9:30 at the earlist I think.
I can defintly say that I have had more than my fill of outdoors and of living in close proximity to my family; I shared a room with my brother in colorado -- that bastard snores so loud you can feel the bass of it shaking the bed, I shit you not. I will be very happy for this "vacation" to be over and to be back in front of my computer, doing what I actually enjoy doing with my leisure time, instead of masking my disdain of those I am surrounded by.
list of books I read while on vacation
Tigana , which I enjoyed
Dream quest of unknown kadath, my first hp Lovecraft book -- not my favorite
The Blade Itself, part of the first law trilogy -- fairly entertaining getting next part later today
Foundation & Foundation and Empire -- two books by Isaac Asimov, which were fairly entertaining but I need to get the next two books for that old series, the names of some of the futuristic items in these old sci-fi books really shows there age "televisor" "visi-sonar" screams old timey sci-fi imo
Ringworld by Larry Niven -- another entertaining/old sci-fi book -- the super advanced culture used tapes in there computers for memory storage elohelohel
and currently I just started Lord of Light by Roger Zelazney; its kinda strange in that its characters are very loosely based on buddhist/hindu gods? Im not entirely certain if there is supposed to be but there is a Sidhartha and a Yama and a Ratri, and lots of speak of karma -- Ill probably end up shelfing this for the next book of that First Law series.
This is how Im fighting boredom.
EDITTED: several edits to add more photos and writing of crap
